The first few weeks…

The first family photo! (still at the hospital)

Getting ready to go home

He loves being on his tummy.

First bath at home with mom and grandma.

Changing diapers…lot’s of diapers. We have almost used the whole box of newborns!

Getting ready to go to church with Grandma. Cute little golfer outfit, haha.

He’s a very serious baby.

Big Day!

On Saturday, May 2nd, 2009, at 2:06pm, Jonah Nicholas Lloyd made his first appearance! Jen gave birth to our healthy, 8lb 11.7oz baby boy at the Bethesda National Naval Medical Center in Maryland. Here are some of the photos from that day. There will be more to come so stay tuned!

More time

Sooo the contractions have really slowed down now. Yeah, they’re not really happening. But hey, the up side to all this foolery is that it got me going on all the things I had been putting off! I hurried and cleaned up the house, finally got those hospital bags packed and in the car, and Nick did one last maternity shoot of me. So, next time those contractions start, we’ll really be ready!

Still no baby….

I’m still hanging out at home having contractions every 3-10 minutes. They seem to be getting stronger…but they still don’t hurt. So I’m not really sure what’s up. My Mom said she had regular contractions for days before her actual labor started…so I guess it’s genetic. Nick is getting really impatient though!

Is it for real???

Ok so…we went to the hospital and they declared me in labor this morning. I am having contractions every three minutes and I’m dilated to a 4. And it’s been more than twelve hours of all this and what am I doing? Hanging out at home. Why? Because it just doesn’t hurt. I don’t want to hang our at the hospital for no good reason…so I’m waiting. So far this labor stuff is pretty easy! 😉 Supposedly all this means that the baby will be here soon, but it really doesn’t feel like it. But hey, if he’s born in April then the birthstone is diamond! So I’m voting we get this baby out by midnight tomorrow.

Almost there!

With only three weeks left to go before this baby (possibly less!) Nick and I are running around like crazy trying to get ready!

One of the things we’ve decided to do before posting any pictures of the baby on the blog is to make it private. So if you would like to view our blog still, send me a shout out with your email address and I will make sure you still have access.

Cherry Blossom Festival

Oh how I love spring!!!

Cherry blossom trees surround the entire tidal basin in Washington DC and were in full bloom this last week! SOOO pretty!

Neat old trees…Japan gave them to us as a gift.

Washington monument. You can see all the trees around the perimeter of the tidal basin.

Most of the flowers were almost white, only a few trees were as pink as this.

Thank you my wonderful Abby for accompanying me on our walk around DC to see the cherry blossoms at almost peak bloom!

Belly!

Almost 34 weeks along now! 6 weeks to go!!!

Nick has left for some training for a few weeks, so before he left I made him do a few belly shots for me. I wish I would have taken weekly shots…maybe next time! I think once I get about a week away from my due date we’ll take a ton of pictures and do some really cute ones, but for now this is all I got.

AND…tomorrow is my birthday!!! Since I’ll be celebrating by myself I was thinking maybe I’d go to a salon and get my hair chopped or something fun like that!

Houdini the Beagle

Since I am the queen of craigslist, I have been watching for some time for the perfect enclosure for my crazy beagle now that I’m working. We were locking her in the bathroom and she had started to do some serious damage to the baseboards. SO I found a good deal on a good cage on craigslist that I thought could keep her in. The past few weeks it’s worked wonderfully…until today.

I left for an hour and came back and she was gone!!! A few minutes later, the cops show up with my crazy beagle in tow. How did she get out? I put her back in the cage, went inside and observed and this is what I saw.

This dog can climb! Another reason NOT to get a beagle! When Nick gets home we are putting chicken wire on the top of the cage…
